Your new role

We have an opportunity for an individual to join our Prevention Policy & Research (PPR) team as the Manager - Prevention Policy & Research on a full-time parental leave backfill basis until 27 November 2026. Reporting to the Director - Policy, Research & Reviews the role will be responsible for leading and managing the Public Sector and Local Government portfolio within PPR. The role is responsible for leading research and strategic policy development and report writing in response to contemporary and emerging corruption issues and risks in the public sector and local government.

Duties include:

  • In consultation with the Director, lead the coordination and development of authoritative strategic policy advice on complex public sector corruption and police misconduct issues arising from investigations, policy reviews, audits, strategic assessments, and research, and identify innovative and workable policy solutions.
  • Lead the delivery of high quality, authoritative research and policy projects including reports, briefs and correspondence for operational, strategic and executive decision makers.
  • Provide leadership and guidance within the Prevention Policy & Research team Duty
  • Contribute advanced expertise and knowledge to underpin analysis and advice to executive management on complex issues including the implications of proposed public sector initiatives and reforms that may impact on IBAC's functions.
  • Influence internal and external stakeholders on complex policy issues, to achieve significant change.

Our requirements / Your skill set

We are looking for candidates with the below experience and capabilities:

  • High level research, conceptual and analytical skills demonstrated in the development, analysis and resolution of complex policy issues.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and guiding a team based on advanced expertise to develop high-quality policy advice, reports, and other written materials.
  • Tertiary qualification and/or significant experience in a relevant discipline is preferable, as is a sound understanding of contemporary issues in the field of public sector corruption and police misconduct prevention.

Due to the requirement to attain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance candidates must be an Australian citizen at the time of application.

Due to a conflict-of-interest IBAC is unable to accept applications for secondment from Victoria Police employees.
