About Us

We're a high-volume, fast-paced traditional 1-hour film lab based in the heart of Newtown, dedicated to keeping film photography alive and accessible. Our small, tight-knit team works hands-on with a wide range of film formats and processes — from 35mm to medium format, colour C-41 to B&W and slide (E-6), even motion picture (ECN-2). We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality results with quick turnarounds, all while preserving the vintage charm of analog photography.

About the Role

We're looking for a Casual Film Lab Assistant to join our crew. You'll be processing film, scanning negatives, and keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. This role is ideal for someone with a strong work ethic, a fun and positive attitude, and an eye for detail.

Please note: This is a very fast-paced, high-volume lab environment. You must be comfortable working quickly, staying focused under pressure, and collaborating with a tight team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process film using Noritsu and Fuji Frontier machines
  • Scan negatives (35mm, 120, etc.) accurately and efficiently
  • Maintain consistent quality control across all jobs
  • Organise and manage customer orders and files
  • Assist with basic printing and reprints
  • Keep work areas clean, organised, and safe
  • Follow chemical safety and handling procedures
  • Keeping a clean and tidy workspace
  • General waste cleanups

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in a film lab is preferred, but we're happy to train the right person
  • Must be available on weekends (with flexibility across other days)
  • Team player with a positive, can-do, and bubbly personality
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work quickly and accurately
  • Passionate about film photography and analog processes
  • Punctual, reliable, and open to flexible working hours
  • Comfortable with physical tasks (standing, moving trays, etc.)
  • Fast learner who can take direction and adapt quickly

Job Type & Hours

  • Casual position
  • Approx. 10–20 hours per week (flexible, but weekends are essential)
  • Potential for additional hours during peak seasons
  • Based onsite in Newtown

Please note: Our hours of operation are from 11 up until 6pm

Ensure you are free to work between these hours of the day from Tuesday- Sunday
