As our
Manager – Portfolio Management
, you will be instrumental in ensuring Qantas Loyalty makes informed, high-value decisions that align with our overarching strategic objectives. You will provide critical oversight and guidance on where we invest our time, capital, and resources to achieve maximum commercial and strategic impact.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining a comprehensive view of strategic initiatives across various business units within Qantas Loyalty, contributing to a consolidated Group portfolio perspective. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Strategic Portfolio Oversight: Leading the development, evaluation, and ongoing review of business cases and initiative estimates, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and robust commercial rationale.
- Value Realisation: Establishing frameworks and processes to track and assess the actual versus expected benefits of portfolio investments, driving a focus on tangible outcomes.
- Annual Planning Leadership: Contributing significantly to the development and refinement of annual planning processes, ensuring strategic alignment and effective resource allocation.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivating and managing strong relationships with senior stakeholders across business units, acting as a trusted advisor on portfolio management best practices.
- Decision Support: Driving proactive decision-making through the ownership of regular, high-quality portfolio reporting, providing clear insights and early escalation of risks and delivery concerns.
- Commercial Acumen: Applying strong commercial understanding to evaluate investment opportunities and ensure optimal capital allocation.
- Portfolio Maturity Uplift: Collaborating with business units to enhance portfolio and execution maturity across the organisation.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in a Business-related field or relevant tertiary qualification.
- 7+ years of demonstrable experience in strategic portfolio management, corporate strategy development, commercial finance, or an enterprise PMO function with a strong strategic focus.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to manage and interpret complex financial and strategic information.
- Strong commercial acumen and a deep understanding of value-based decision-making and capital allocation principles.
- Significant experience supporting and influencing annual planning cycles and delivering portfolio-level reporting to executive audiences in large, complex organisations.
- A proven track record of collaborating effectively across diverse functions and building strong relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Comfort navigating ambiguous and evolving environments, with the ability to contribute to the development of emerging practices.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and concisely to executive audiences.
- Experience leading the commercial evaluation and justification of large-scale, complex initiatives across multiple business units is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to drive results and maintain momentum in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
