Overview:
The Senior Engineer will be key in providing expert engineering guidance and support within the organisation to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and project objectives. This role requires a seasoned engineer with a strong background in engineering and a proven track record of success.
Location:
This role will be located at our any of our capital city offices, preference for Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra or Perth. Remote work arrangements within Australia will also be considered for the right candidate.
The Role:
The incumbent will play a pivotal role in driving the delivery of the seaworthiness regulatory framework, assisted implementation, and organisational design initiatives. You will leverage your significant technical and regulatory expertise to draft the policy, regulations, and other framework documents for seaworthiness. You will also be responsible for reviewing the regulations, working with regulated entities, and drafting compliance submissions, permits and approvals on behalf of the seaworthiness regulator. Your leadership, deep understanding of engineering and regulatory principles, and ability to mentor junior team members will be crucial to ensuring the successful implementation of these critical regulatory initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Draft policy, regulations, and other documents for seaworthiness.
- Review seaworthiness policy and regulations, engage with regulated entities.
- Draft compliance submissions, permits and approvals on behalf of the seaworthiness regulator.
- Spearhead organisational design, development of a quality management systems, and compliance with ISO 9001 accreditation requirements.
- Conduct technical reviews and assessments to identify risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement in the project deliverables.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables, and develop project plans and schedules.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations to discuss technical aspects of the project and address any concerns or questions.
- Demonstrate a strong background in engineering and regulatory compliance and a proven track record of success.
- Mentor and guide staff to leverage their analytical skills and attention to detail in supporting the development of the governance, regulations, and framework for seaworthiness.
- Stay informed about industry trends, developments, and emerging technologies to inform decision-making and support innovation initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
- 5+ years of experience in marine engineering or an equivalent discipline.
- Bachelor qualification in marine engineering, or related discipline, and considerable industry experience.
- Must hold on commencement an Australian Government Security clearance.
- Strong expertise in work, health and safety and environmental compliance.
- Strong knowledge of Australian and International maritime conventions and laws, and/or the Defence regulatory environment/s.
- Chartered Engineer status with relevant recognised engineering institute.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes knowledge sharing and teamwork.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
