Defect Manager

About the role:
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Defect Manager with SAP experience to oversee the defect management process. In this role you will be responsible for managing, tracking, and driving resolution of defects, ensuring high-quality product delivery while maintaining a focus on continuous improvement. This role requires a blend of technical and leadership skills, as well as strong problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the entire defect lifecycle—from identification and logging to resolution and closure—ensuring effective tracking, communication, and timely resolution across cross-functional teams.
- Lead defect triage meetings to prioritize and assign defects based on severity and impact, collaborating closely with development, QA, and product teams.
- Provide regular status reports on defect trends, root causes, and progress, driving preventive actions for recurring issues and communicating risks and solutions to senior management.
- Utilize and train teams on defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla) to enhance defect management efficiency and ensure adherence to best practices.
- Continuously improve the defect management process and proactively identify and mitigate risks to support high-quality product delivery.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Prior demonstrated experience as a defect manager
- Experience in defect management in large Programs spanning across distributed teams – including internal, external vendors and business. This will include reporting on defects, chairing the triage, liaising with teams and follow up.
- Prior experience in SAP, Salesforce and other ERP applications
- Experience in working with Azure DevOps for Test and Defect Management and reporting
- Experience with reporting defect trends and working with teams in both defect and change management.
- Prior experience in the pharmaceutical distribution industry will be an advantage
