About the role

Gear Concern Engineering Pty Ltd, a leading engineering firm based in Acacia Ridge, QLD, is seeking a full-time Trade Assistant to join their dynamic machining shop team. In this hands-on role, you will provide vital support to our skilled machinists, contributing to the efficient production of high-quality components.

What you'll be doing

  • Assisting machinists with the set-up, operation, and maintenance of various metalworking machines, such as lathes, mills, and grinders
  • Performing basic machining tasks, including cutting, drilling, grinding, and deburring of metal parts
  • Ensuring the work area is clean, organised, and well-stocked with necessary tools and materials
  • Helping with the transportation and handling of raw materials, finished products, and equipment
  • Adhering to all relevant safety protocols and maintaining a safe work environment
  • Providing support to the team as needed to meet production targets and deadlines

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience as a Trade Assistant or in a similar labourers role in a machining or manufacturing environment
  • Good mechanical aptitude and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to learn and take on new challenges
