Primary objective
Provide advice and support for strategic, operational and administrative functions for the legal practice and other divisional outputs under
shared services arrangements.
Context statement
Legal Services and Policy Coordination provides a range of practice management and corporate services to the Legal Services Division
and the Strategic Policy Coordination Division including outsourcing legal work to private legal service providers.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Facilitate comprehensive, accurate and timely advice and delivery of services to all levels of management and staff on human resources
and employment arrangements across the Divisions.
- Forecast and report on recruitment requirements for the Divisions including identifying appropriate recruitment solutions and
managing recruitment processes.
Facilitate and manage recruitment actions across the Divisions, both temporary and ongoing for professional and administrative staff.
Work innovatively and proactively with directors, managers and peers to achieve positive business outcomes and elevate
organisational performance.
- Assist the Human Resource Team in regard to the investigation and research of complex HR issues to provide sound advice and support
to staff in regard to employee relations, work policy, guidelines and processes.
- Manage and develop the staffing establishments for the Divisions including JES review of all positions to ensure all positions have
position numbers in line with the organisational structure.
- Contribute to workforce planning and early career development including indigenous employment strategies, traineeships, vacation
employment, attraction and retention and flexible workplace practices.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Contemporary knowledge of human resource management and administrative processes.
- Sound ability to understand and interpret legislation and employment policies and apply this knowledge to work and advice formulated
for clients and managers.
3. A sound understanding of the management requirements for a multi-disciplinary professional environment, preferably in a legal
context.
4. Well-developed written, interpersonal communication and negotiation skills to liaise effectively with all levels of management, staff
and stakeholders establishing positive relationships.
5. High levels of flexibility, accountability, confidentiality and diplomacy.
6. Highly developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage competing deadlines.
7. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in Business Management, Human Resource Management or similar.
