About the role

The System Purchasing Branch develops policy and provides expert advice to all levels of the NSW public health system on managing planned surgical services as well as leading targeted programs to improve planned surgery performance.
The Senior Project Officer, Surgery manages strategic and operational projects to meet NSW Health objective of surgical services that are safe, high quality and deliver outcomes that matter to patients and the community. The role will apply project management to develop and support the implementation of best practice policies, programs, projects, and activities for the Ministry of Health, public health organisations, and related government agencies in relation to surgical services.
Crown Clerk 9/10, starting salary from $129,464 - $142,665 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week, work location- 1 Reserve Road, St Leonards

What you'll be doing
- Leading the planning and delivery of complex surgery-related projects
- Managing all stages of the project cycle: planning, resourcing, budgeting, reporting
- Monitoring and evaluating project implementation, including risk and quality management
- Building and maintaining stakeholder relationships through effective communication and negotiation
- Providing expert advice and reporting to senior executives and external partners
About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
- The ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- The ability to work in a small dynamic team environment.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in managing all stages of the policy project cycle in healthcare (planning, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation).
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent professional experience in project management.
- Demonstrated experience and evidence of applied knowledge of the NSW Health system structure and priorities as pertain to planned and emergency surgical services and surgery avoidance.
