On-site inspection, testing and repair of the stator, rotor and exciter windings of large high voltage electric generators.
As a Global Field Service Winding Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Performing Winding inspection, electrical testing, maintenance and repairs on Generator HV windings on customer sites globally.
Carrying out basic mechanical strip-down (and rebuild) of machines to gain access to the generator windings.
Carrying out electrical testing on high and low voltage windings in the field.
Carrying out visual winding inspections of the stator, rotor and excitation system.
Carrying out in-situ generator winding repairs including stator re-wedge work.
Working as part of a team for on-site stator strip and rewind operations.
Assisting mechanical service engineer(s) on assignments, which will not necessarily involve winding related activities.
Supervising and train internal and external customers.
Interpreting technical drawings, specifications and technical requirements; prepare method statements and prepare detailed and concise reports for submission to customers. Attend technical meetings on site and at customers' premises.
Carrying out an on-site risk assessment on every assignment and record details thereof on the special form provided.
Carrying out other reasonable duties as directed from time to time by the Field Service Manager.

To be successful in this role you will:
Have an accredited Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification or relevant experience - a minimum, qualified through a recognised Craft apprenticeship in stator winding on large high voltage rotating electrical machines.
Have experience of working on competitors' equipment would be an advantage.
Be competent in soldering, brazing, crimping and HV insulating procedures.
Be self-sufficient, resourceful and a problem solver.
Have strength of character and high levels of energy.
Be an effective communicator, fluent in both spoken and written English.
Have the ability to undertake extensive overseas and offshore working, often for protracted periods.
