About the role

The Alternate Health Co. is seeking an experienced General Practitioner to join our team as a contracted General Practitioner - Authorised Prescriber specialising in Medical Cannabis Telehealth. This is a remote opportunity that allows you to provide Telehealth consultations to patients across Australia, with a focus on authorised prescribing of medical cannabis.

What you'll be doing

  1. Conduct comprehensive telehealth consultations with patients, assessing their medical conditions and suitability for medical cannabis treatment
  2. Prescribe medical cannabis products in line with all relevant regulations and guidelines
  3. Provide ongoing monitoring and care for patients using medical cannabis, adjusting treatment plans as needed
  4. Collaborate with other healthcare providers involved in the patient's care
  5. Stay up-to-date with the latest research, regulations and best practices in medical cannabis
  6. Contribute to the development of The Alternate Health Co''s Telehealth and medical cannabis services

What we're looking for

  1. General Practitioner registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  2. Authorisation to prescribe Schedule 8 (controlled) medicines, including medical cannabis products
  3. Extensive experience in general practice, with a focus on managing complex chronic conditions
  4. Strong knowledge of the regulatory framework and clinical guidelines for medical cannabis
  5. Excellent communication and patient-centred care skills, including the ability to conduct effective Telehealth consultations
  6. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date with the latest research and best practices
  7. Current Authorised Prescriber (AP) status for medicinal cannabis, or willingness to obtain (we'll help with the process
