Position Summary

Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, a leader in global cancer care, research, and education, is offering a 12-month unaccredited registrar position focusing on research, innovation and development within the High Acuity Team and The Enhanced Care Unit (ECU). The position is designed for those interested in careers in Anaesthetics, Intensive Care, Emergency Medicine and Medical Administration, providing hands-on experience in a specialist oncology setting. The role includes involvement in high acuity patient care, research, innovation, change management and quality improvement initiatives, with no on-call, weekend, or public holiday commitments. Successful candidates may if they wish would take the opportunity to apply for a competitive 12-month unaccredited Anaesthetic registrar position after completion.

Skills

Essential Requirements:

  • Medical qualifications registrable AHPRA
  • At least 4 postgraduate years, with 6 months in intensive care and 3 months in emergency medicine.
  • Current ALS2 and BASICS qualifications, with a strong interest in clinical deterioration prevention and operational development.
  • International applications should have a pre-arranged suitable visa to cover the 12 months of employment, and progressing to Permanent Residency status

Gain experience in the areas of research methodology and performance reporting for the Enhanced Care Unit and High Acuity Team, as well as care of acutely unwell oncology patients and high-risk surgical oncology patients

Gain experience in providing the highest standard of patient focused, evidence-based care for patients undergoing medical or surgical treatment for the variety of cancers, under the supervision of Specialist Anaesthetists, Intensive Care Specialists, and Acute Medical Physicians
