Due to an internal career progression, we are offering a unique opportunity for a Mental Health Consultant to join our claims operation. In this role, you will work collaboratively with case managers to drive a person-centric approach to the recovery of psychological claims, support sustainable return to work outcomes, and assist in the identification of secondary psychological claims.
Based in our Darwin office, this is a unique opportunity to bring your expertise and passion to a truly rewarding role. Additionally, you will connect with, and be supported by, GB's national Mental Health Hub (community of practice).
How You'll Make An Impact
- Support the development of innovative strategies to manage complex psychological claims, injury an approach to address barriers such as communication, diagnoses, plateaued progress, potential for self-harm, and treatment;
- Contribute to the development of return to work plans and the identification of suitable duties in the workplace;
- Coach and mentor claims teams around the management of psychological injuries;
- Attend case conferences with injured workers and medical practitioners, as well as liaising with GPs and specialists;
- Analyse psychological injury trends and identify risks, and implement strategies for continuous improvement;
- Undertake training with claims teams to improve competencies around the management of psychological claims;
- Review claims to identify and strategies for potential psychosocial barriers.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate mental health-related discipline, including psychology, rehabilitation counselling, social work, counselling, mental health nursing, etc. Experience within the insurance sector would be highly regarded;
- Knowledge of general business and administrative practices, including cost effective business activities;
- Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to engage at all levels of organisation and with a varied set of stakeholders;
- A proactive and strategic mindset;
- Exceptional time management and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail;
- A passion and aptitude for coaching, training an continuous improvement;
- Empathetic and enthusiastic, with a strong sense of team and collaboration;
- A resilient attitude.
