You'll be working on some of the most high-profile water infrastructure projects in the industry, helping to secure Water for Life for generations to come.
About Your Opportunity
Step into the role of Principal Technical Lead – Dams within IPCD, where you'll shape the future of South East Queensland's most ambitious dam infrastructure projects. At the forefront of innovation and stewardship, you'll set the technical vision and governance for multibillion-dollar initiatives—overseeing planning, delivery, and seamless handover, while bringing best-practice frameworks, management tools, and protocols to life.
Your initial focus will be steering the landmark Wivenhoe Dam Improvement Project (WDIP) or the strategically vital North Pine Dam Improvement Project (NPDIP), with opportunities to extend your expertise across Seqwater's impressive asset portfolio as new challenges emerge. Reporting directly to the Technical Director – Dams and working closely with Project Directors, you'll play a pivotal role in projects that safeguard our water future and leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership, direction, and decision-making for one or more of Seqwater's dam infrastructure planning and capital delivery projects. These projects may involve:
- Significant capital expenditure on multipurpose dams that are essential for water supply and regional development in South East Queensland.
- Oversight of dam safety, water security, and flood mitigation risks throughout design, investigation, construction, and commissioning over extended timeframes (e.g., more than 5 years).
- Coordination of multidisciplinary teams with expertise in dam engineering and supporting technical fields.
- Technical leadership and responsibility aligned with the scale, impact, and complexity of the works.
- This role encompasses comprehensive technical leadership required to deliver projects meeting technical and project targets within set timeframes. Specific points of responsibility are detailed below.
- Oversee Technical Governance and Engineering Assurance for specified Seqwater dam projects, including strategic planning, design, construction, handover, and ongoing operations and maintenance. This includes facilitating interactions between the project team and the Technical Review Panel, which typically consists of international experts in dam engineering and related disciplines.
- Coordinate technical input and decisions related to dam projects from various internal groups, including through Technical Working Groups.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering.
- Qualification or the ability to obtain registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of
- Queensland.
- Professional dam engineering experience across multiple geographic locations.
- Unrestricted Class C drivers license.
- Experience as a leader, including professional experience in leading and managing a multidisciplinary technical team of professionals in a dynamic environment.
This position will be offered as an individual TFR package with an attractive salary and is a permanent full time role.
