Australian Naval Infrastructure Pty Ltd (ANI) is the owner, developer and manager of the Osborne Naval Shipyards, supporting the Commonwealth's Naval Shipbuilding Plan. ANI is responsible designing, constructing and managing the shipyard infrastructure, including the new Nuclear-Powered Submarine Construction Yard to support the AUKUS program, and operating and maintaining common use facilities.

The Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Advisor is a key team contributor and instrumental in developing and maintaining a safety culture by advising, mentoring, coaching and providing best practice solutions to prevent incidents. The role will be responsible for ensuring governance processes are implemented to assist management to meet SHE legal and business requirements.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating and consulting with teams to ensure engagement and alignment with SHE strategic priorities,
  • Ensuring employees have the right tools to do their job with confidence and the ability to manage safe, health and environmental obligations and risks
  • Coaching leaders and teams by providing expert advice to identify, prioritise and build SHE capabilities, behaviours, structures and processes.
  • Supporting implementation and continuous improvement of ANI safety management systems
  • Establishing and facilitating systematic approaches to hazard identification and risk assessments directed towards asset and operational lifecycle.
  • Developing and supporting the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the business safety critical risk and control programs
  • Managing site safety, health and environmental event response and reporting procedures
  • Leading or participating in formal investigations, specialist inspections and audits working with the SHE Functional Leadership
  • Evaluating report findings and actioning systematic improvement and control effectiveness
  • Facilitating learnings from incidents and hazards to ensure enhancements are communicated through the SHE Function to ANI's safety culture
  • Participating in compliance assurance activities aligned with SHE Strategy and business improvement plans to verify and validate the integrity of SHE critical controls
  • Liaising with line leaders on the safety aspects of plant and process modification, supply, operation, maintenance and training of PPE
  • Supporting delivery of SHE functional training and return to work services requires as required

About You:

You will have solid interpersonal skills, strong verbal communication abilities, a proactive attitude, and a professional and collaborative approach to managing processes and people. This role will suit an individual with a strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and robust organisational skills. Prior experience in safety is a requirement of this position.

You will also have:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Safety or related discipline, is desired)
  • Experience in construction is preferred, but willingness to learn will also be considered
  • Experience as an ICAM Investigator and/or auditor is also desired
