Production Supervisor

Charters Paper is seeking a skilled and experienced Shift Supervisor to join our dynamic food packaging and paper converting team. This is a permanent opportunity based in Laverton North, offering comprehensive training on day shift and preferred shift of the successful candidate can be discussed.

About the Role:

As an experienced Shift Supervisor, you will report to the Production Manager and be responsible for maintaining a high standard of quality and safety while meeting production targets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment. Safety first for any decision.
• Supervise and support production staff, fostering a safe, productive and positive team culture.
• Conduct daily inspections of machinery to ensure asset reliability, optimal performance and safety.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of all equipment and production areas.
• Coordinate machine setup and preparation for scheduled production runs. Push for maximum efficiency from the process and machinery.
• Monitor and ensure adherence to quality control standards throughout the production process.
• Accurately record production data, including time logs, error reports, and communication records.
• Manage the flow of raw materials into the production area to meet operational needs.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost-efficiency.
• Perform general supervisory duties as required.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by management.
• Look for efficiencies and cost saving through the Production Department
• Roster and manage staff accordingly
• Train and up skill staff in relevant SOP's and training documents.
• Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to meet objectives

Skills and Experience:

• Trade qualified to ensure relevant experience in fulfilling the role. Suit a mechanical trade or ideally from the Print industry
• Proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing or production environment
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and operational best practices.
• Excellent organizational and decision-making abilities.
• Effective problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to cross over shifts if necessary
• Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills
• Stable work history and a solid work ethic
• Previous experience in the print, paper product manufacturing industry is a plus, but not essential as full training is provided
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Previous web printing, packaging, or other trade experience in machine operation, maintenance, or troubleshooting is desirable, but we will also consider candidates with a strong understanding of machinery from other industries.
• Minimum 3-5 years of supervision experience required
• Australian work rights required for this position
