Over 70% of all funds under management (FUM) are managed in-house by our dedicated Investments team. We strongly believe our in-house management strategy ultimately leads to greater retirement outcomes for our members through lower fees, sustainable investment options and top quartile investment performance.

The Opportunity

Within this role you will play a vital role in supporting the management and execution of UniSuper's equity strategies. You'll work closely with Portfolio Managers and the Equities team to facilitate trading, contribute to research, and help drive the implementation of our investment philosophy.

Your expertise will be instrumental in developing direct trading capabilities, streamlining investment processes, and fostering a collaborative team environment. You'll have the opportunity to mentor junior analysts, create innovative solutions, and make a tangible impact on portfolio outcomes.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop direct trading capabilities in Australian and global equities, executing transactions in line with approved delegations and limits.
  • Monitor existing portfolio positions against agreed risk parameters and market conditions, working closely with portfolio managers.
  • Identify, source, and assess new investment opportunities, and divest existing holdings following detailed assessment.
  • Undertake qualitative research to support portfolio management and proactively develop, review, and refine investment opportunities.
  • Prepare reports for UniSuper's Investment Committee and contribute to research papers and publications for internal and external use.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment, mentor junior analysts, and help create and implement new processes for efficient portfolio management.
  • Incorporate AI and innovative technologies into investment processes to enhance efficiency and decision-making.

About You

You are a proactive and analytical investment professional with a passion for equity markets and trading execution. Your technical expertise, attention to detail, and collaborative approach enable you to thrive in a dynamic team and deliver meaningful results.

To excel in this role, you will bring:

  • More than 5 years' experience in constructing and managing equities portfolios, and conducting investment/financial analysis and/or research.
  • Extensive experience in developing and analysing financial models, with strong financial modelling, analytical, and quantitative skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills, and the ability to summarise results and provide insight.
  • High degree of numeracy, computer literacy, and attention to detail, with sound information technology skills.
