Hand and Upper Limb Therapy
- This is a 6-month- fixed term, part time 0.4 FTE – 0.6 FTE position (two – three days per week) position with flexible working options and the possibility of extension(s)and permanency.
- Casual opportunities - hand an upper limb (splinting) in outpatient settings Monday – Friday
Applicants with relevant experience in adult care will be provided the opportunity for clinical support and education to enable a smooth transition into our paediatric practice environment.
About the Role
We are seeking experienced Senior Occupational Therapists to join our dedicated team at Perth Children's Hospital. In this role, you will draw on the expertise of the broader OT team while applying your specialised skills in hand and upper limb therapy to deliver comprehensive care for children and their families.
This role is predominantly outpatient focused. You will provide assessment and intervention for children post upper limb injury, congenital conditions or surgery, and provide splinting services, with a focus on post-operative care for orthopaedic and plastics patients.
A small component of the role is dedicated to congenital hand conditions. You will work with children to improve range of motion and function through interventions such as splinting, casting, and play-based therapy.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Participating in regular supervision, evaluation of clinical practice, and ongoing professional development.
- Participating in the development, planning, and evaluation of services, including ongoing evaluation of clinical practice and standards.
- Supporting the delivery of safe patient care, ensuring services are family-centred and contributing to continuous quality improvement activities
- Providing consultancy, contributing to service development, and upholding the highest standards of professional development and clinical governance.

About our Occupational Therapy Team
Based at Perth Children's Hospital, our dedicated team provide a statewide service to children aged 0–16 years, including inpatients (as part of a multi-disciplinary team of health professionals) and outpatients through medical clinics, and OT led clinics.
Through assessment and consultation with the child and their family, we aim to help young people achieve age-appropriate levels of independence. We are committed to maximising a child's potential through building and recovering skills and strategies that enable participation and engagement in everyday activities and adapt to each child's age, developmental needs, illness, injury, or disability we evaluate sensory, cognitive, motor, and social-emotional skills.
Working across post-surgical, rehabilitation, neurodevelopmental interventions, and transitions, we support patients during their journey back home and to school. This includes outpatient follow-ups, transition to adult care, liaison with regional patients via Telehealth, and collaboration with other Health Service Providers, CAHS services, child development services, and community agencies.
