About the Opportunity
Be part of a pioneering initiative to design and deliver a brand new End of life Care service within the culturally rich and diverse South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) community.
This senior role offers the chance to further develop your clinical leadership within a specialised area of occupational therapy. It calls for a reflective and innovative approach to the complexities of end of life care, enabling you to make a meaningful and enduring contribution to patients and their families.
You will be joining a team of like-minded colleagues who are equally passionate about end of life care, and who are committed to fostering both individual and collective growth as the service evolves.
The ideal candidate for this Level 3 Occupational Therapist position is a skilled, empathetic, and independent professional dedicated to delivering person-centred end of life care in a culturally diverse community. They will demonstrate advanced clinical expertise and adopt a comprehensive, holistic approach to assist clients and their families through this profoundly important and delicate time.
As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will:
- Deliver advanced, person-centred clinical care to end-of-life clients and their families/carers, using extensive clinical expertise and evidence-based practice in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Apply expert decision making skills to manage complex occupational therapy interventions and case management challenges.
- Coordinate with care providers across settings to ensure seamless, continuous care that meets patient, families and carer needs.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of treatment protocols, clinical pathways, and service standards.
- Provide clinical supervision, support, and competency assessment for junior therapists, allied health assistants, and students, following supervision policies.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain compliance with AHPRA guidelines, participating in regular supervision and networking across the health district.
- Lead or participate in quality improvement and clinical research initiatives to enhance service delivery and outcomes.
- Adhere to risk management, safety, infection control, and organisational policies including NSW Health Code of Conduct and SWSLHD frameworks.

Where You'll Be Working
SWSLHD Primary & Community Health provides a comprehensive range of community-based services designed to improve and maintain the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities across South Western Sydney.
These services include prevention, early intervention, assessment, acute and post-acute treatment, health maintenance, and continuing care. The team supports diverse populations, offering specialised programs for children, young people, older adults, and at-risk communities.
With over 800 dedicated staff, including Aboriginal Health Workers, nurses, doctors, and allied health professionals, the service ensures high-quality care close to where people live.

- Current registration to practice as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board and AHPRA, with at least 3 years post graduate clinical experience.
- Demonstrated advanced clinical skills and significant experience in the provision of occupational therapy services for End of Life Care patients, carers/ families.
- Demonstrated experience participating in the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery incorporating the quality improvement process.
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision, mentoring and development of junior staff and/or students.
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
