INTERMEDIATE ACCOUNTANT

Full Time – Investment and Tax Advisory (Accounting)

Starting salary from $65k + super; negotiable based on the talent you demonstrate

Based in Paddington in central Brisbane, Profectus Tax Advisory is a full-service public accounting practice with a focus on SMSF and investment entity accounting. Working collaboratively with teams from our planning, investing and lending divisions we provide a wholistic service approach to clients small and large.

About the Role

You'll be working with SME and investment clients, preparing high-quality compliance work. Working alongside our experienced team, your professional development will build in areas of investment entity compliance, practice administration and reporting along with tax advisory services for high wealth individuals. This is a hands-on role that is well suited to an applicant that displays initiative, curiosity and attention to detail alongside their demonstrated experience.

  • Internal entities: The Profectus group operate multiple business units across the financial services segment. Working alongside key people, you'll quickly develop your advisory skills.

  • External client base: Our family of clients consists of medium to high wealth individuals, many of which have SMSFs and investment companies or trusts. In addition to annual reporting, you'll assist with a broad range of enquiries throughout the year

  • A pathway to becoming a registered tax agent exists for the right applicant.

Your day-to-day might include:

  • Preparing tax returns, BAS/IAS, and financial statements

  • Managing workpapers and full client files with minimal supervision

  • Collaborating with senior team members and admin staff alike to ensure client expectations are exceeded.

  • Handling technical areas such as CGT, Division 7A, and FBT

  • Communicating clearly and professionally with clients

  • Embracing cloud-based processes in a paperless office environment

About You

We're looking for someone with:

  • Around 3 years of Australian public practice experience

  • Australian citizenship required

  • Strong technical skills in compliance work; well-developed critical thinking skills

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate compliance issues during accounts preparation

  • A keen interest in tax and corporations' law; commitment to ongoing professional development

  • Exposure to investment clients (including SMSFs) and small business clients

  • Experience with CGT calculations, Division 7A

  • Proficiency with BGL Simplefund360, Active Ledger and Workpapers is desirable

  • Solid organisational skills and reliability under deadlines

  • Excellent communication skills and a team-first mindset

Bachelor's degree qualification is required
