Plantation Maintenance Officer

We're seeking a motivated Plantation Maintenance Officer to join our team and assist in the care and management of our eucalyptus and hemp plantations.

This is a hands-on outdoor role focused on silviculture and sustainable land management. You'll work across both plantation types to maintain tree and crop health, improve soil condition, and support ongoing research and development projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pruning eucalyptus trees using electric pruners and pole saws
  • Weed control and spraying across plantation sites
  • Ground maintenance, including wipper snipping and general upkeep
  • Assisting with fire management activities, including controlled burning and firebreak maintenance
  • Supporting biochar trials and soil improvement projects
  • Collecting data on tree and crop growth (height, diameter, health metrics)
  • Seed and biomass collection for propagation and trial purposes
  • Assisting with irrigation and soil preparation in hemp plantation areas
  • Safe operation and maintenance of all tools and equipment

About You:

  • Enjoy working outdoors in a variety of conditions
  • Physically fit, safety-conscious, and reliable
  • Able to work independently or as part of a small team
  • Experience in pruning, spraying, or land/vegetation management (preferred)
  • Willingness to learn and follow safe work procedures
  • Current driver's licence (required)
  • Chemical handling, chainsaw, or fire control certificates (advantageous)
  • Interest in forestry, regenerative agriculture, or hemp production is a plus
