About the ProjectJohn Holland has been named as the preferred contractor to deliver the North-East Link, Hoddle St to Bourke Road package of works. The Eastern Hoddle Bourke Alliance (EHBA) is made up of John Holland, Seymour Whyte and design partners Mott MacDonald and Jacobs Group, in partnership with MRPV.
The scope of works includes upgrading six kilometres of the Freeway with new traffic lanes, bridge upgrades and urban noise walls, a dedicated busway (fully segregated from mainline traffic), and a new bridge over the Yarra River.
The NEL Project involves the design and construction of the upgrade of the Eastern Freeway from Hoddle Street in the west to Burke Road in the east, including:
6km of brownfield freeway widening to accommodate additional traffic lanes in each direction
3km dedicated busway separated from mainline traffic
Significant structures including 600m of bridges, including a 180m architectural steel shared use path bridge of the Yarra River
Freeway-wide scope including ITS, retaining walls, stormwater drainage, noise walls, lighting and signage
Site location to be around Chandler Highway / Eastern Freeway interchange.
About the RoleSupporting the HSE leads to establish procedures and implement programs to provide a safe and healthy working environment for all project personnel
in addition to directing and providing guidance on safety, health and environmental programs.
What you will do;Develop and administer HSE education and compliance programs for employees, contractors and visitors within a defined workplaces
Contribute to the development and implement occupational health and safety procedures based on approved company policies in the areas of health, safety and environment
Investigate the causes of serious events on site and recommend actions to prevent future occurrences
Assist the HSE Manager on projects to manage and oversee compliance and governance with our HSE management systems
Provide support, coordination and advice of HSE practices, systems and procedures within a defined workplaces
Provide training education and awareness as well as mentoring for HSE aspects
Maintain comprehensive HSE records and manage all statutory HSE reporting requirements
Maintain an update-to-date knowledge of all relevant legal, regulatory and company HSE requirements, ensuring management and staff are kept informed of any relevant changes to legal, regulatory and company HSE requirements
Coordinate and provide day to day specialist support to the Project Leadership team, employees, contractors, clients and visitors during the project lifecycle
Liaise with key stakeholders on HSE specific requirements
Qualifications
Diploma of Safety in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
Cert IV in Environmental Management
Bachelor degree in Safety, Quality, Environment, Project Management or other associated disciplines
Safety Lead Auditor Qualification, Internal Environmental Auditor Qualification
TAE Training and Assessment
Experience
Demonstrated site based experience in an infrastructure or major project in Australia.
Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects
Knowledge of Safety legislation and statutes (especially those relating to Comcare), and ability to interpret any applicable statutes or legislation relevant to Project
Knowledge of Environmental legislation and statutes, and ability to interpret any applicable statutes or legislation relevant to Project
