Why You'll Thrive at Next Step Psychology & Counselling

At Next Step, our mission is to help our community THINK, FEEL, and LIVE BETTER. We believe that starts with supporting our clinicians. We're looking for a passionate Psychologist to join our expanding team, and we've established a practice designed for you to do your best work.

Here, you're not just another therapist; you're a valued part of a collaborative team. We invest in your growth by providing:

  • Dedicated Administrative Support: So you can focus on your clients, not on chasing paperwork and billing.
  • Generous Professional Development: A dedicated annual budget for you to pursue your clinical interests and specialisations.
  • Peer Consultation & Supervision: Regular opportunities to connect with senior psychologists to discuss complex cases and grow your skills.
  • A Truly Flexible Environment: Choose your mix of in-clinic work at our modern, sustainable, Norwest offices and telehealth sessions from home.
Your Role in Detail

As a Psychologist at Next Step, you will have the autonomy and support to make a genuine difference. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver High-Quality Therapy: Provide evidence-based, client-centred therapy for a diverse caseload of individuals, couples, and families across in-clinic and telehealth settings.
  • Develop Tailored Treatment Plans: Craft and implement thoughtful, effective treatment plans that align with our "THINK, FEEL, LIVE BETTER" framework.
  • Collaborate for Better Outcomes: Work closely with GPs, psychiatrists, and other allied health professionals to ensure seamless, holistic care for your clients.
  • Maintain Clinical Excellence: Manage your client records with precision using our streamlined digital platform, ensuring compliance with all AHPRA standards.
  • Contribute to Our Growth: Actively participate in our peer consultations and lend your expertise to help refine and develop our therapeutic services.
  • Act as a Brand Ambassador: Represent the professionalism, warmth, and values of Next Step Psychology & Counselling in all your interactions.
About You

We are looking for a dedicated and collaborative professional who is passionate about delivering exceptional client care.

Australian citizenship or permanent residency is required for this position.

The Must-Haves (Essential Criteria):

  • Full AHPRA registration as a General or Clinical Psychologist.
  • A valid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC).
  • Willingness to undergo, or possession of a recent, National Police Check.
  • A minimum of 2+ years' post-registration experience providing evidence-based therapy.
  • Confidence and proficiency in using practice management software and telehealth platforms (e.g., Halaxy, Cliniko).
  • An unrestricted Australian driver's licence and access to a comprehensively insured vehicle.

What Will Make You Stand Out (Desirable Criteria):

  • You are a natural relationship-builder, able to create strong therapeutic alliances and collaborate effectively with referrers like GPs and psychiatrists.
  • You are highly autonomous and organised, with a knack for managing your caseload and clinical notes efficiently.
  • You thrive in a team environment and genuinely enjoy participating in peer supervision and case discussions.
  • You have current registration as a provider with SIRA and/or experience working with clients through Wentwest (PHN).
  • Experience across various funding models such as NDIS, DVA, or EAP would be highly regarded.
