Senior Finance Officer
Are you a talented finance professional ready to take ownership of the numbers in a business that's anything but ordinary?
Kryal Castle — Australia's only medieval adventure park — is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Finance Officer to help us shape the next chapter of our growing kingdom.
This is a rare opportunity for someone who's ready to take full ownership of the finance function, and who is looking to grow into a future Financial Controller role as the business expands. This role is Part Time - 3 days per week.
Why This Role Stands Out
We're not a corporate office or a traditional hotel — we're an immersive, entertainment-driven attraction with over 1,000 years of medieval magic woven into every experience.
This role is for someone who wants more than just month-end reports — someone who wants to own the numbers, improve systems, and become a strategic partner to the business.
Your Impact
As our Senior Finance Officer, you'll report directly to the CEO and work closely with the business owners. You'll lead our day-to-day finance operations while helping to shape the future direction of finance at Kryal Castle.
This is a hands-on role with a clear growth path to Financial Controller — perfect for someone ready to step into leadership over time.
Your Responsibilities
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable (end-to-end)
 - Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
 - Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls
 - Manage payroll processing and employee records (Deputy, Xero)
 - Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
 - Lead month-end and year-end close processes
 - Assist with audit preparation and liaise with external accountants
 - Improve finance systems, processes and reporting tools
 - Collaborate with non-financial managers to provide insights

What We're Looking For
Core Experience
- Degree-qualified in Accounting, Finance, CPA
 - 3–5 years' experience in finance or accounting roles
 - Strong background in bookkeeping, reporting and compliance
 - Advanced Xero user + strong Excel/financial analysis skills
 - Experience with budgeting, cash flow, and month/year-end processes

Experience with financial tools:
- Lightyear or similar accounts payable automation systems
 - Deputy or similar time & attendance systems
 - Roller or similar POS/ticketing systems

Mindset & Growth Potential
- Motivated to take ownership and lead the finance function
 - Ambitious and eager to grow into a Financial Controller role
 - Hands-on and adaptable — equally comfortable with daily operations and big-picture thinking
 - Able to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance team members
 - High integrity and reliability — someone the business can count on

Nice-to-Haves
- Experience in tourism, hospitality or events
 - Familiarity with NewBook or other booking systems
 - CA or CPA qualification (or working towards one)
 - An interest in the operations of small-to-medium businesses

Why Join Our Kingdom?
- One-of-a-kind workplace — you'll work in a real live castle
 - Be part of a close-knit, collaborative team
 - Work closely with leadership, where your voice matters
 - Help build and scale the finance function from the inside out

Ready to Take the Next Step?
If you're a capable finance professional with the skills and ambition to grow, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply now with your CV and a cover letter outlining why you're the right person to manage the finances of a business that's anything but ordinary.
