About the Role:

Are you passionate about marine operations and committed to ensuring safety and excellence in the field? Join the Department for Environment and Water (DEW) and play a key role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our diving and boating operations across South Australia.

As the Diving and Boating Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all DEW diving and boating operations are conducted safely in accordance with Australian legislation, regulations, standards and DEW policies and procedures.

In this role, you will provide overall management of the departmental diving and boating activities, including oversight of training requirements. In addition, you will also support DEW operations, including scientific projects, by providing specialist expertise, equipment management, field support, and participation in data collection and underwater research activities, where required.

Central to this role is the ability to provide leadership, management, training, and specialist advice to ensure DEW's diving and boating operations are delivered safely and to the highest professional standards across South Australia.

Contract:

This is a full-time role, initial 2 years term contract.

Essential Qualifications:

• Occupational diver certification to levels specified in AS ADAS Part 1 – SCUBA Diver to 30m qualification or approved equivalent) and AS ADAS Part 2 – Surface Supplied Diver to 30m or approved equivalent).
• Minimum 200 hours of logged underwater diving experience, with extensive experience in the supervision of diving operations in support of scientific research programs.
• Coxswains Grade 1 NC certificate or higher.
• Current Advanced First Aid, CPR and Emergency Oxygen for SCUBA Diving Injuries certificates.
• Recreational diving certification to Dive Master or Dive Instructor.
• Occupational diving certification to AS ADAS Part 5 Dive Supervisor qualification or approved equivalent).
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
• Certificate IV in Work, Health and Safety or experience in management of WHS relevant to the role of Diving and Boating Officer.

Special Conditions:

Prior to being employed, the successful applicant will be required to obtain a National Police Check and a Working with Children Check.

The successful applicant will be required to obtain a current AS2299.1 compliant Occupational Diving Medical Fitness certificate before commencing employment.

All mandatory qualifications, training and certificates are required to be up to date and maintained as a requirement of the role.

Remuneration:

TGO5 $96,478 min - $104,165 max p.a., pro rata for part time hours.
