This newly created role offers an exciting opportunity to provide expert clinical leadership and governance oversight within CatholicCare CQ's Dementia Together program.
About the role
As the Dementia Services Clinical Lead, you will play a key role in shaping the program's direction and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred dementia care aligned with CatholicCare's mission, values, and Clinical Governance Framework.
You'll collaborate across teams to strengthen service capability, provide direct clinical care, and mentor nursing, case management, and support staff to uphold best practice in dementia-specific care.
The primary objectives of this position include:
Provide clinical leadership and guidance to Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, and Support Workers delivering in-home dementia care.
Deliver and oversee evidence-based nursing interventions that promote independence, dignity, and wellbeing for clients living with dementia.
Undertake complex client assessments and contribute to the development of individualised, holistic care plans.
Ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality clinical practices in line with CatholicCare's Clinical Governance Framework.
Provide expert consultation and case review for staff managing complex dementia presentations or behavioural concerns.
Lead quality improvement initiatives, including incident reviews, audits, and practice development.
Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance service integration and client outcomes.
Contribute to organisational strategy through leadership, innovation, and alignment with CatholicCare's mission and values.
What We're Looking For
Essential
Bachelor degree in Nursing.
Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (or relevant body) and commitment to maintaining membership including mandatory professional development.
Minimum 5 years of nursing experience.
Current C Class Driver's Licence (QLD).
Desirable
Minimum 1 year of leadership experience.
Minimum 3 years community or aged care nursing experience.Registration with AHPRA (if applicable)
Key Skills & Competencies:
Substantial clinical assessment and problem-solving skills specific to dementia and aged-care nursing.
Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams within a community setting.
High level of knowledge and skill in leading and developing a multidisciplinary team comprising clinical and non-clinical staff within a community-based setting.
High-level communication, consultation, and interpersonal skills to build trust with clients, families, staff, and health professionals.
Demonstrated capacity to manage competing priorities, delegate effectively, and maintain service quality under pressure.
Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and evidence-based practice.
Ability to interpret and apply CatholicCare's mission, values, and ethical framework in clinical decision-making.
Competence in documentation, reporting, and use of client information systems to maintain accurate and timely records.
Sound understanding of risk management, incident reporting, and clinical escalation pathways.
Demonstrated commitment to professional growth, reflective practice, and lifelong learning.
