About the OPPORTUNITY

The System Architect plays a critical role in designing and implementing secure, scalable, and resilient technology solutions for the Maritime business.

This position requires sound knowledge of IT infrastructure and application architecture, strong competence in at least 1-2 layers of the infrastructure stack, and prior experience in developing technical designs for applications and systems of varying complexity, with a particular focus on defence-specific requirements such as security, compliance, and interoperability.

More specifically, you will be

  • Develop technology Architectures: Design and maintain high-quality, resilient technical designs for new and current IT systems, aligning with operational and strategic goals.
  • Design Secure & Scalable Infrastructure: Assist with the design of IT infrastructure platform solutions (networking, storage, cloud, virtualization) compliant with defence industry standards, cybersecurity requirements and operational security.
  • Integrate Emerging Technologies: Evaluate and incorporate new technologies to boost system resilience, performance, and security.
  • Drive Strategic Planning & Governance: Develop and manage technology roadmaps, reference architectures, and technical governance policies ensuring compliance and supporting system accreditation.
  • Engage the business: Collaborate with various business stakeholders, internal teams and the defence customer to ensure seamless integration and implementation of IT systems
  • Translate Operational Needs into Solutions: Leverage extensive IT architecture and technology experience to translate business requirements into robust and secure IT solutions.
  • Provide Technical Leadership: Offer expert technical consultancy, mentorship, and leadership to IT teams and project stakeholders.

About YOU

  • Deep understanding of system architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure (networking, storage, operating system, virtualization, databases) with deep expertise in one or more layers.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing complex IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Experience with architectural modelling tools and frameworks (e.g. TOGAF)
  • Good understanding of technical design principles and standards.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
