About the Role
We're seeking a compassionate and capable Coordinator to provide direct support to the Manager and help lead our disability support services in Dulwich Hill. This blended role combines operational coordination, staff supervision, and direct client-facing support across Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Community Participation.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong interest in psychosocial disability, trauma-informed care, and recovery-oriented practice. You'll play a key role in shaping inclusive, person-centred services that empower individuals to thrive—particularly those with complex mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities
Support to the Manager, Living & Community
- Assist with day-to-day operations of the service
- Monitor service delivery against NDIS plans, goals, and funding arrangements
- Conduct quality checks and support audit preparation
- Respond to complex service issues and operational escalations
Direct Service Provision
- Role model best-practice support and build relationships with clients and families
- Step in during staff absences or critical incidents to ensure service continuity
- Maintain accurate documentation of support activities
- Provide scheduled and ad-hoc direct support to participants as needed
Staff Supervision and Support
- Supervise and support a team of Support Workers and Senior Support Workers
- Manage rostering, leave requests, and shift coverage
- Support recruitment, induction, and performance management
- Facilitate team meetings and training opportunities
Participant Support & Compliance
- Act as a point of escalation for complex participant issues
- Coordinate with families, carers, and external stakeholders
- Promote choice, control, and independence in service delivery
- Assist with risk assessments, support plans, and NDIS documentation
Key Selection Criteria
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a supervisory or coordinator role within disability, community, or social services
• Thorough understanding of the NDIS environment, funding structures, and Quality and Safeguards Framework
• Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g., Certificate IV or Diploma in Disability, Community Services, or equivalent)
• Proven ability to lead a team while balancing administrative and direct support duties
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Strong administrative and organisational skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and client management systems
Mandatory Requirements
• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Working with Children Check (WWCC)
• First Aid and CPR Certificate
• Australian Driver's Licence
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
• Access to a reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle
Desirable
• Certificate in Mental Health
• Experience supporting individuals with psychosocial disability
