Full- time Civil Engineer

This is a full-time position. You will be paid $140,000 plus Superannuation and will be required to work 38 hours per week. You may be required to work overtime during the week and occasional weekends.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Determining construction methods, materials, and quality standards, and drafting and interpreting specifications, drawings, plans, construction methods and procedures

· Performing computations to verify design specifications.

· Reviewing construction programs and advising on site activities (labour and formwork requirements)

· Monitoring changes to designs, assessing effects on cost, and measuring, valuing and negotiating variations to designs in consultation with the Project Manager

· Research and advise on the best engineering solution to meet with project needs

· Determining construction methods for structures including retaining walls

Volume calculations using software

· Studying architectural and engineering drawings and specifications to estimate total costs, and preparing detailed cost plans and estimates as tools to assist in budgetary control

· Resolving design and development problems

· Working with the client to determine materials required that meet industry standards.

· Conducting tests to determine the likely behaviour of timber and conventional formwork when placed under pressure by proposed structures, construction machinery

· Working with other Civil Engineers to make changes to the original designs

· Working with Structural Engineers to amend designs that are at risk of collapsing and twisting;

· Measuring contracts drawings and preparing detailed estimates for final review and endorsement by the client.

· Recording materials required that was not included the original estimate and design

· Ensuring all civil related works are performed in line with our quality and service

standards

· Studying & evaluating technical drawings

· Ensuring all drawings are checked and validated against job requirement

· Establishing detailed programs for the coordination of site activities

Close liaison with the client regarding programming and staging of the works

· Managing budgets and project resources

· Provide technical advice regarding design, construction, or program modifications

· Ensure formwork is erected according to built in accordance with the plans and specifications

· Determining construction methods, materials and quality standards, drafting and interpreting specifications, drawings, plans, construction methods and procedures.

· Monitoring changes to designs, assessing effects on costs, and measuring, valuing and negotiating variations to designs.

· Determining potential risks involved with specific construction projects and supporting the Directors to determine and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.

· Maintaining an organised system of digital records including subcontractor registers.

· Identifying variations resulting from designing changes

· Maintaining technical knowledge of civil engineering by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications.

· Providing specialist expertise to directors and the operations manager to improve company processes and procedures.

· Assessment of Contractor claims and writing reports on same

· Assessment of Contractor payment applications against work completed

· Assessment of Contractor performance against Contractual KPI's

· Assessment of Contractor submissions including method statements and preparation of clear comments

Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.

· Minimum of 3 years of experience in civil engineering field.

· Strong knowledge of Doka Formwork systems

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
