Senior Transmission Line Engineer

As a senior engineer joining PSS, you will help lead high-impact projects that support the transition to sustainable energy systems.

Role & Responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead end-to-end transmission line projects, from concept / feasibility through detailed design, to support and delivery
  • Perform structural and electrical design of high-voltage lines using tools such as PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, PLS-POLE or equivalent
  • Ensure compliance with Australian and international standards (e.g. AS/NZS) and regulatory requirements
  • Produce technical deliverables: calculation reports, design drawings, specifications, and documentation
  • Coordinate with stakeholders — internal teams, contractors, utilities, regulators, landowners
  • Drive continuous improvement, best practices, risk assessment, and quality assurance in designs
  • Mentor and guide junior / mid-level engineers
  • Contribute to proposals and bids, including technical input and cost estimation
  • Support refurbishment, uprating, or upgrading works, ensuring alignment with PSS expertise in line refurbishment & upgrading )

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Structural, or Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • At least 8 years of hands-on experience in transmission line engineering (design, analysis, delivery)
  • Proficiency with PLS-CADD / PLS-TOWER / PLS-POLE or similar modelling tools
  • Strong knowledge of relevant standards (AS / AS/NZS / IEC etc.)
  • Excellent problem solving, technical depth, and attention to detail
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership skills
  • Proven experience mentoring and guiding less-senior engineers
  • Experience with line refurbishment, uprating, or structural upgrades is an advantage
  • Professional registration (e.g. Chartered engineer or eligibility) is strongly preferred
