The Opportunity:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Town Planner to join our Planning Department. Reporting to the Senior Town Planner, this role is integral to supporting the planning and development of projects across HPG's portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Feasibility Assessment: Conduct preliminary research and data analysis to support feasibility studies for development projects.
- Planning Applications: Prepare and submit development applications and planning proposals in accordance with local and state regulations.
- Legislative Compliance: Ensure development proposals meet approval requirements by applying knowledge of relevant planning legislation and policies.
- Consultant Coordination: Liaise with external consultants, including surveyors and environmental experts, to gather necessary inputs for project submissions.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with internal stakeholders to align planning outcomes with broader project needs.
- Regulatory Monitoring: Stay informed of statutory changes, council policies, and planning reforms impacting park development projects.
Skills and Attributes:
- Basic understanding of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (NSW) and relevant planning instruments.
- High attention to detail in documentation and planning submissions.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including report writing.
- Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow within a supportive team environment
Qualifications and Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning, Town Planning, Environmental Planning, or a related discipline (essential).
- Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in a planning role, with demonstrated capability in preparing and managing planning applications.
- Experience engaging with local government authorities and understanding council approval processes.
- Familiarity with the Local Government (Manufactured Home Estates, Caravan Parks, Camping Grounds and Moveable Dwellings) Regulation 2021 is desirable but not mandatory.
