QSE & Project Administrator – Mentored Career Growth
3 days ago
Step into a newly created role that offers full mentoring, hands-on site & office exposure, and clear career pathways.
Whether you're starting out or bringing a few years of experience, this is your chance to grow your QSE and project skills while supporting major construction projects.
The Company
This steel fabrication and construction company has an excellent local and national reputation, and is sought after for large construction projects. The combined experience of the ownership team is of the richest in the country, spanning all facets of steel fabrication and construction.
Strengthened by significant tonne cranage capacity, CNC production machines that utilise the very latest technologies, and a team that cares about quality, this organisation has become the 'go to' steel fabrication and construction company for large SA defence, commercial and industrial projects that require the highest quality fabrication and construction standards.
The South Australian Managing Director has harnessed a great deal of industry respect; known for being a highly ethical operator, who places an emphasis on building and maintaining a people centric culture. Core business values include providing the highest standard of steelwork available, producing the best quality product, and supporting the development of a highly competent and cohesive team, ensuring employees feel happy and live balanced lives. Having a culture that people want to join, develop in, and don't want to leave; as well as harnessing the ongoing respect and commitment of the most reliable sub-contractor base; has been the cornerstone to this company's success.
Genuine care for others has become a shared value throughout the organisation, whereby colleagues show active support for one another. If a colleague needs help, whether personally or professionally, the team rally to support. This has undeniably created a unique workplace culture rarely seen to such an extent within the realm of steel fabrication and construction.
The Role
Due to business growth, the role of QSE & Project Administrator is a newly created position to support the QSE Manager and Project Managers, in what will be a heavily mentored position. As the QSE & Project Administrator you will divide your time between being in the office, and out on site, which will see you develop a well rounded administrative and stakeholder engagement skill set in construction.
The position will require you to demonstrate a high level of organisation and attention to detail; become familiar with construction standards and legislation; and maintain excellent records and documentation.
This opportunity is open to you if you can demonstrate an interest in QSE, either through education or some related practical experience, and are eager to learn and develop. You will be exposed to more of the QSE function over time, commensurate with the pace at which you learn. In addition to having some baseline experience or education, to be successful in this role you will need to have an interest in personal development, and genuinely want to have a positive impact on maintaining high standards of quality and safety within the workplace, in a manner that is supportive and collaborative.
Over time you will be exposed to the following:
- Participating in quality system management reviews;
- Participating in tender or contract reviews as requested and making recommendation on QSE related matters;
- Assisting with internal and surveillance audits to ensure all work and services are in accordance with the Business Management System;
- In conjunction with the Manager(s) / Managing Director, conducting vendor assessments and making recommendations of results;
- The maintenance and safe keeping of "Measurement and Inspection" equipment;
- Developing and implementing procedures and work instructions;
- The preparation of Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans;
- Preparing and implementing inspection and test checklists;
- Controlling and issuing management system documentation;
- Electronically filing and recalling test certificates for materials purchased;
- Developing specific training for internal staff as required;
- Developing work method statements for individual projects;
- Monitoring work practises on the factory floor and subcontractors on site;
- Developing safe operating procedures;
- Maintaining appropriate records;
- Attending site meetings as requested;
- Conducting safety meetings;
- Reporting details of non-conforming work and/or supplies that will allow accurate cost statements to be prepared;
- Recommending changes which could: reduce cost; increase productivity; improve quality;
- Other tasks as directed by the QSE Manager.
Requirements
Essential to the hiring process we are seeking someone that can demonstrate a genuine care for colleagues and enjoys achieving goals as part of a collaborative team; along with the following:
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate accurately and clearly both verbally and in writing.
