Assistant Venue Manager

Union House is a place for the community, sharing pub values built on genuine and generous hospitality. Whether it's the front bar buzzing with sport, the rooftop filled with friends at sundown, the dining room set for relaxed dinners where conversations linger, or the function space celebrating milestones, each corner of Union House carries the same welcoming values. We're now looking for an Assistant Venue Manager to carry those values forward and help us write the next chapter.

We're looking for someone with at least 4 years' experience in a supervisory or management role within a busy pub, restaurant, or bar environment. You'll bring proven shift leadership, team development, and operational know-how, and be ready to step up into a senior management pathway.

We're after someone who is:

• Approachable, welcoming, and positive. Someone guests and staff alike gravitate toward.
• Hands-on and motivated, leading by example and keeping calm in the busiest moments.
• Experienced in both elevated dining and fast-paced bar service, with cocktail and wine knowledge to back it up.
• Confident in managing a team, training staff, and delivering consistently great service.
• Ambitious and eager to learn, with a genuine love for food, wine, and creating memorable guest experiences.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• WSET level 3 a bonus.
• Knowledge across OpenTable, Deputy and OrderMate an advantage.

This is a senior role with variety and responsibility. You'll be:

• Running daily operations, from floor to bar to cellar, with a focus on service standards, safety, and compliance.
• Supporting the Venue Manager by rostering, planning, and stepping up when needed.
• Leading and motivating the team, coaching them to deliver genuine and generous hospitality.
• Driving customer and community engagement, from locals' nights to function packages and social media.
• Managing stock, financial controls, and cash-ups with precision.
• Overseeing health and safety and ensuring our venue always operates to the highest standard.
• Having the opportunity to contribute to business development and shape product offerings across the venue.

• A salary of $75–85k (depending on experience) + super under the Publican.Co Enterprise Agreement 2023/2024, with guaranteed annual salary increases.
