About the Division
Performance and Evaluation Division continuously builds the department's evidence base by generating and reporting on analytic insights, research, evaluation, system performance, and departmental outcomes and sharing this evidence to inform decision-making. The Evaluation and Research Branch stewards the department's evaluation and research functions. Working with internal and external stakeholders, ERB is responsible for the department's evaluation policy and strategic research agenda; managing strategic research partnerships; and providing support for the annual budget cycle with a particular focus on strengthening implementation and insights from evaluations.
About the Role
This is a fixed-term hybrid role until 14 August 2026.
Working within a team of experienced researchers and evaluators, this role will allow you to hone your existing research and/or evaluation knowledge. Key responsibilities will include:
- supporting the department's Research in Schools and Early Childhood settings (RISEC) application process, including through administration, coordination and review/assessment of research applications
- maintaining record-keeping processes, databases and processes
- contributing to the establishment and monitoring of research partnerships between the department and other organisations
- dissemination of research and evaluation evidence, including briefings and meeting notes for senior executives
- supporting broader research and evaluation activities as required.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Desirable: A relevant tertiary qualification in a related field, and demonstrated experience in research and/or program evaluation.
