About the team
The Natural Areas Conservation (NAC) business unit is responsible for the day-to-day management and presentation of a 14,000-hectare estate rich in biodiversity. Our dedicated team protects, enhances, and promotes the City's conservation reserves that stretch from the McPherson Range to Southern Moreton Bay.
About the role
In the Senior Ranger Trails position, you will play a key role in delivering and maintaining high-quality, sustainable fire management and recreational trails that showcase and preserve the City's natural areas. The assets you build and maintain will directly support the conservation of the City's green spaces, contributing to the enhancement of the Gold Coast lifestyle.
By fostering a collaborative approach, you will help activate and manage the City's conservation estate, taking a central role in driving the success of high-profile projects within the Natural Areas Conservation portfolio. This is a unique opportunity to combine field-based project work with strategic input into the future of our natural areas.
We are looking for a candidate who brings a unique blend of project management skills and a strong commitment to environmental stewardship, including:
- Proven experience in delivering and maintaining sustainable trail networks in natural areas.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong report writing, data and contract management skills.
- Graduate Certificate in Project Management, or equivalent experience.
- Bachelor of Environmental Science, or equivalent experience in natural area management is highly desirable.
