About The Role
As a Senior Pharmacist - Cancer you will play a vital role in the organisation, management, and daily operation of the Cancer Pharmacy Team. You will deliver a comprehensive range of advanced pharmacy services across inpatient and outpatient settings including verification of chemotherapy and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to optimise pharmacotherapy for patients undergoing cancer treatment. You will exercise independent clinical judgement and provide therapeutic advice and medicines information to patients, medical staff, nurses, and other health professionals, playing a key role in ensuring safe and effective use of cancer therapy. Your expertise will ensure that services are delivered in line with hospital policies, divisional procedures, and professional standards, with a focus on safety and quality.
In this role, you will actively contribute to optimising patient outcomes through the quality use of medicines, implementing strategies that support safe, effective, and cost-conscious pharmaceutical care. By collaborating with colleagues across the hospital, you will help foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement in pharmacy practice, ensuring patients and the wider health service benefit from the highest standards of care.
About You
You are a qualified and dedicated Pharmacist who brings strong clinical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality pharmacy services. With excellent communication and organisational abilities, you thrive in complex healthcare environments and are passionate about driving improvements in patient care.
- Registered (or eligible) with the Pharmacy Board of Australia, holding a Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent), with extensive hospital pharmacy experience.
- Previous oncology and/or haematology clinical pharmacy experience and SA Pharmacy Clinical Verification of Cancer Therapy credentialed (or equivalent).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively across diverse professional groups and lead multidisciplinary initiatives.
- Proven organisational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of meeting deadlines, ensuring accuracy, and improving service delivery.
- Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy practice, standards, and codes of practice, with experience in supervising, educating, and mentoring staff at all levels.
