We now have an exciting opportunity for a Group Accountant – Gas to join our Financial Control team on a permanent full-time basis. Office location is flexible, we also offer hybrid working arrangements.

Reporting to the Group Accounting Leader, you'll play a key role in ensuring accuracy and efficiency across APA's operational finance activities, with a focus on our East Coast gas infrastructure assets.

This role sits at the core of APA's finance function, where you'll be involved in the full month-end close process, posting journals, and ensuring the integrity of financial ledgers. You will work closely with the Finance Business Partnering team and Finance Assist to support decision-making, streamline processes, and deliver continuous improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete month-end close activities, including posting journals and reconciliations.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability of APA's financial records and processes.
  • Analyse financial data to provide insights that support decision-making.
  • Work closely with Finance Assist and Business Partnering teams to streamline financial operations.
  • Identify bottlenecks in processes and implement efficiencies to enable earlier month-end close.
  • Support ongoing improvements in financial control, consolidation, and automation.

Your background

  • CA/CPA qualified (or near completion).
  • Solid grounding in financial accounting, ideally gained in a Big 4 or large corporate environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate across teams.
  • Experience with Workday, Blackline, or similar systems advantageous, but not essential.
