THE ROLE

Applications are sought from experienced Principal - Systems and Compliance to join the team at Ora Banda.

The responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Lead the development and integration of OBM's management systems, including the OBM Integrated Management Standards and their connection to the MSMS, ensuring system integrity and compliance.
  • Manage compliance reporting and assurance activities, delivering high-quality analysis and insights to the GM – Sustainability, senior management, and the Board.
  • Ensure HSET systems, documentation, and registers are current, accessible, and embedded into operational workflows.
  • Lead investigations, audits, and compliance reviews to identify systemic gaps and drive improvements in risk and compliance performance.
  • Oversee contractor compliance processes, including selection, onboarding, and assurance, ensuring alignment with company standards and regulatory obligations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of HSET reporting requirements across monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles.
  • Develop and maintain system tools and activity planning frameworks that translate governance requirements into practical, actionable processes for operational teams.
  • Act as the super user for key compliance platforms including INX InControl and associated systems, providing technical support, training, and system optimisation across the business.
  • Coordinate the Quarterly MSMS Review process, ensuring structured evaluation of system effectiveness, alignment with regulatory requirements, and integration of site-level feedback.
  • Produce strategic reports and insights to inform senior leadership and support continuous improvement.
  • Analyse HSET performance data to evaluate system effectiveness, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain and govern OBM documentation, ensuring version control, naming conventions, and publication standards are upheld.
  • Provide technical support and training on document control systems, including site-based engagement to build user capability.
  • Continuously improve document control processes to enhance system usability and ensure efficient management of document-related correspondence.
  • Support the Company's Crisis Management framework by contributing to the development, testing, and continuous improvement of crisis response systems and documentation, ensuring readiness and alignment with governance protocols.

ABOUT YOU

To be considered for the role, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience: 

  • Minimum 10 years' WHS and compliance experience in mining operations (open pit and underground).
  • Strong background in HSET systems, governance, auditing, and risk management with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Diploma in Work Health and Safety (BSB51319) or equivalent.
  • Lead Auditor qualifications (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO
  • ICAM Lead Investigator Qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience managing Mine Safety Management Systems (MSMS).
  • Experience identifying and managing Principal Mining Hazards, including hazard management plans.
  • Proven ability to manage organisational risk registers and compliance assurance programs.
  • Strong knowledge of mining legislation, WHS (Mines) Regulations, and industry codes of practice.
  • Demonstrated capability in reporting, risk analysis, and providing assurance insights to senior leadership.
  • Valid C-class manual driver's licence.
  • Post-graduate qualifications in WHS (highly desirable).
  • Experience managing contractor compliance in a principal operator environment.
