We're proud of brands, like COLORBOND steel that inspire and protect everything from hospitals to bridges and stadiums.

The Opportunity

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is seeking a Refractories Team Leader to join our Refractory Services team. As part of BlueScope's broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, our six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla deliver a wide range of products, innovative solutions and services to both domestic and export customers.

In this leadership role, you'll be responsible for guiding and developing a team of skilled refractory installation bricklayers and installers. You'll set the standard for safety and quality, coordinate installation and maintenance activities, and ensure resources are effectively managed to deliver reliable refractory solutions across our operations.

You'll be part of a team that values safety, collaboration and continuous improvement. In addition to working a 4 on / 4 off, 12-hour day shift pattern, you'll enjoy access to our Employee Well-Being Program, plus company perks and discounts.

What You'll Do

As Refractories Team Leader, you will:

  • lead, coach and develop a team of refractory bricklayers and installers
  • ensure safe work practices are consistently upheld and continuously improved
  • oversee the installation, relining and repair of refractory equipment such as ladles, vessels and blast furnace troughs
  • manage job planning, resource allocation and shift coordination to meet operational priorities
  • drive quality, reliability and continuous improvement in refractory services
  • build constructive relationships with stakeholders and contractors to deliver best outcomes
  • drive a strong, cohesive and respectful team culture in line with BlueScope's values

About You

We're looking for a leader who can balance hands-on technical know-how with strong people management skills. You will bring:

  • proven leadership experience in a trade, maintenance or manufacturing environment
  • a commitment to safety and the ability to embed a strong safety culture in your team
  • strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • the ability to plan, prioritise and manage resources effectively
  • a proactive, collaborative mindset with a focus on team development and performance

Technical experience in refractory installation or bricklaying (Certificate III in Bricklaying or similar trade qualification) would be beneficial but is not required.
