The Natural Resources Access Regulator (NRAR) is currently seeking to appoint a
Manager Regulatory Intelligence
in an ongoing full-time capacity.

The Natural Resources Access Regulator (NRAR) Act 2017 enabled the establishment of an independent water regulator in NSW focused on establishing best practice water regulation underpinned by ethics, good governance and stakeholder engagement to deliver effective and reliable water regulation for the people of NSW.

NRAR enforces the NSW water laws and offers guidance and education to help water users comply. We strive to be an efficient and effective regulator that celebrates and reflects the diversity of the community we serve. Working with NRAR provides a chance to make sure water is used lawfully so that all communities and the environment get a fair share.

About You

Lead NRAR's regulatory intelligence function to focus our effort on greatest compliance outcomes and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our work. Lead a team responsible for the governance, collection, analysis, production and evaluation of high-quality intelligence to inform NRAR's strategic, operational and tactical planning and operations.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Drive regulatory priorities
    by managing NRAR's regulatory risk register, decision-making processes, and intelligence-led approaches.
  • Implement regulatory intelligence strategies
    to position NRAR as a leader in proactive, risk-based regulation.
  • Lead and develop teams
    to strengthen intelligence capability, supporting strategic, operational, and tactical decision-making.
  • Lead change
    to embed the use of intelligence in regulatory design and decision-making at all levels of NRAR.
  • Foster strong partnerships and networks
    across internal stakeholders, government, regulators, and research bodies to support regulatory problem-solving.
  • Provide expert intelligence analysis
    on complex issues, evaluate effectiveness of initiatives, and lead continuous improvement of regulatory outcomes.

DCCEEW conserves and protects the state's natural environment. It manages the NSW national park estate, including its rich and diverse biodiversity and Aboriginal cultural heritage for future generations.

DCCEEW also ensures sustainable management of water resources across the state, to support the environment, communities and industry.
