The Role

Hallett Laboratory is seeking applicants for a concrete, aggregate and soil laboratory technician. The position is a great opportunity for someone wanting to start a career in the construction materials industry. The position will be based initially at Prominent Hill, as a FIFO for a period of 6 months, testing concrete and then at Dry Creek in the aggregate and soil laboratory. The successful applicant will report to the Hallett Laboratory Manager. Hours of work may be variable depending on project requirements.

Key responsibilities:


• Carry out concrete testing at Prominent Hill for an initial 6 month period, involving FIFO, 12 Hr shifts. Rotation is 8/6.


• Conduct aggregate and soil testing in the Laboratory in accordance with Australian, DPTI, NATA, Hallett & customer requirements.


• Ensure adherence to concrete and raw materials testing frequencies.


• Ensure adherence to laboratory safety, health and environmental compliance


• Provide feedback to technical manager on concrete performance.

Qualifications / Personnel attributes:


• Completion of Certificate III in Laboratory techniques or equivalent.


• Must have at least 2 years full time experience in construction materials testing.


• Completion of Year 12, computer literate and competent in math's.


• Must be physically fit and able to work in the field on construction sites and when at Prominent Hill, underground.


• Effective communication skills.


• High level of motivation and self confidence in dealings with customers.


• Working knowledge of Australian standards and test methods.


• Current Australian Driver's License
