The Head of Mathematics plays a significant role at Methodist Ladies' College. The position requires: 

  • A relational and innovative educational leader with strong strategic and operational skills to drive the growth of Mathematics programs.
  • An accomplished Mathematics practitioner who researches, embraces, and embeds contemporary pedagogy to enhance teaching and learning across the department and wider school.
  • A dynamic leader with proven experience in fostering a collaborative, data-informed culture that drives improved student learning in Mathematics.

About the role:

The Head of Mathematics plays a pivotal role in shaping and amplifying a culture of learning that develops independent, resilient, ambitious, and adaptable mathematical thinkers. This position requires a leader who can inspire, motivate, and champion both students and staff, fostering an environment where every learner is challenged, enriched, and supported to thrive and excel in Mathematics. As a highly visible leader, the Head of Mathematics will ensure cohesive and collaborative approaches across the department, maintaining clear pathways and seamless transitions from Year 7 through to Year 12, including preparation for further study and diverse career opportunities. This role will further strengthen MLC's reputation for innovation and excellence in Mathematics education, delivering a challenging, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment.

Terms and appointment:  

The successful applicant will commence in term 1, 2026.
