About Iziko Designs

Iziko Designs creates contemporary homes on the Sunshine Coast that feel as good as they look. We're based in Coolum Beach and design for the way people actually live here — homes shaped by the site, the climate, and the relaxed rhythm of coastal Australian life.

"Iziko" means hearth — the gathering place at the centre of a home. That idea sits at the heart of everything we do: creating spaces that draw people in, work beautifully, and quietly make daily life better.

We're a small but growing studio, and every project gets genuine attention. Every idea counts, and every person matters. We've got plenty of exciting work on the go (and more coming), so we're looking for someone who'll fit the team, bring fresh energy, and help us keep doing what we love — designing homes that just feel right.

About the Role

You'll be hands-on across all stages of residential projects — from concept through to documentation and construction. That means:

  • Preparing drawings, documentation, and specs in Revit
  • Collaborating closely with builders, engineers, and certifiers
  • Conducting site visits and ensuring compliance
  • Being part of client conversations as designs take shape

This is a part-time contract role (3 days per week) for an initial 6-month period, with the potential to grow into a full-time position for the right person. The role is based on the Sunshine Coast, with the option for some work-from-home flexibility once you're settled in.

What We're Looking For

We're not just after skill — we're looking for the right fit. Someone who's passionate about design, genuinely cares about the work, and enjoys collaborating in a team where everyone's voice counts.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Experience in residential design and documentation for custom homes and renovations
  • A solid understanding of Australian building codes, construction methods, and approval processes
  • Proficiency in Revit (Lumion experience is a massive bonus)
  • Strong communication and a team-first approach
  • The ability to manage your own workload across multiple projects
  • A Building Design qualification — Diploma or Cert IV (a Bachelor's in Architecture or related field is a plus)
