Little Collins St Melbourne Australia Varicon Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

Making Civil Construction Management Easy

After experiencing inefficiencies firsthand on construction sites, Varicon was created to provide a smarter solution for civil construction cost and project management. From day one, we've partnered with leading contractors to build systems that work in the field and in the office. We believe construction professionals should spend less time on reports and spreadsheets and more time delivering projects and winning work. Varicon saves contractors time and money, and we're looking for someone to help us make an even bigger impact.

How You Can Make a Difference

We're looking for someone with hands-on civil construction experience (2–3+ years) who can join our product team as a domain expert. In this role, you'll:

  • Act as the voice of the construction site within our product team, helping translate real-world problems into software solutions.

  • Provide rich feedback to our product team to capture opportunities to improve Varicon around customer experience.

  • Identify ways to make our systems more repeatable, scalable, and field-friendly, so teams can work smarter, not harder.

  • Collaborate closely with engineers and designers to test, refine, and launch features that have a tangible impact on construction teams.

  • Help shape Varicon's product roadmap with your on-site expertise, influencing the tools used by contractors across Australia.

What You'll Be Working On

  • Own key workflows and processes in the product, ensuring they truly meet field and office needs.

  • Translate construction site challenges into actionable product insights for our engineering and design teams.

  • Test and validate features in real-world conditions to improve usability and adoption.

  • Advocate for efficiency, accuracy, and simplicity, helping make Varicon fat-finger friendly and intuitive.

  • Identify opportunities for innovation that save contractors time and reduce errors.

  • Collaborate with the team on documenting processes, creating training materials, and improving onboarding for new users.

The Skills and Experience You'll Bring

  • 2–3+ years of hands-on civil construction site experience.

  • Passion for technology and curiosity about how software can transform field operations.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate practical site challenges to a tech team.

  • A systems-thinking mindset: seeing opportunities to improve processes, standardize workflows, and scale solutions.

  • Comfort in a dynamic, fast-moving startup environment.

  • Ability to influence without authority, ensuring product decisions reflect real-world needs.

  • Experience using or implementing construction software is a plus—but your field expertise matters most.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Be part of a fast-growing SaaS startup revolutionizing civil construction management.

  • See the direct impact of your expertise on the software used by contractors in the field.

  • Work alongside a passionate, collaborative product and engineering team.

  • Shape tools that help construction professionals focus on delivering projects, not filling spreadsheets.

  • Flexible work environment with opportunities for growth and ownership.

How Varicon Supports Your Transition

  • Structured mentorship from product managers and engineers to help you learn product thinking, UX design, and software strategy.

  • Access to online courses and certifications to accelerate your growth into a tech/product role.

  • Hands-on involvement in building features, reviewing prototypes, and defining requirements.

  • Opportunities to lead initiatives from ideation to delivery, gaining product ownership experience.

  • Exposure to tech tools and methodologies used in fast-growing SaaS startups.

Ready to bring your site experience to the digital world?

Join Varicon and help us accelerate the future of civil construction.
