About the role

Reporting to the Safety Manager, you will play a critical role in driving a strong and sustainable safety culture across Wire operations. As Safety Partner, you will coach and support the line leaders of our Newcastle & Geelong sites, focusing on achieving an injury-free workplace.

The role is essential in embedding key safety processes, evolving a pro-active interdependent safety culture, maintaining reporting systems, verifying health and safety processes, and guiding the development and application of an integrated safety business model.

Key responsibilities:

  • Facilitate incident investigations, hazard identification, and risk assessments
  • Advise and support line leaders to ensure the effective implementation and communication of the InfraBuild health and safety policy, standards, programs, and procedures
  • Support leaders to effectively manage incidents, investigations, and injuries, ensuring timely closure of corrective actions
  • Conduct verification activities of business processes that are associated with high-risk activities
  • Support the implementation of new health and safety initiatives
  • Train stakeholders in safety systems and processes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in health and safety performance and respond to incident trends

Please note that this role includes regular travel to our Geelong site.

Our ideal candidate will have proven health and safety experience within a heavy industry, construction, or manufacturing environment and preferably hold relevant qualifications in WHS and training.

You also have:

  • Diploma or Degree in Work Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, OR Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety if supported by strong practical experience
  • ICAM or equivalent incident investigation training is highly desirable
  • Experience in a safety advisory or business partnering role within heavy industry, manufacturing, construction, or similar high-risk environment
  • Demonstrated experience coaching and developing line leaders in WHS capability
  • Practical experience implementing WHS management systems and applying relevant legislation
  • Proven track record in risk management, incident investigation, and corrective action management
  • Experience using safety management software (e.g. Cority or similar systems)
  • Driver's licence and your own vehicle
