Sydney Children's Hospitals Network is the largest paediatric health care entity in Australia. We care for thousands of children each year in our hospitals and in their homes — with one purpose in mind — to help young people live their healthiest lives.
What you'll be doing
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) works autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced and extended clinical role to deliver a child and family centred approach to healthcare within the nominated specialty service. The NP provides innovative and flexible health care delivery that complements other health care providers. The NP's scope of practice (SCOP) is determined by the context of practice, is underpinned by policy and service requirements. The SCOP will be reviewed regularly in conjunction with the service director and/or manager or Nurse Manager as relevant to the service.
The NP role includes, but is not limited to comprehensive health assessment, initiation and interpretation of diagnostic investigations, diagnosis, prescription of pharmacological and non-pharmacological agents/therapies and discussion with/referral to medical specialists and other health professionals.
The NP will clinically manage patients requiring hospital admission or discharge, in the clinic or community setting or as relevant to the service.
The NP will emphasize health promotion and disease prevention.
The NP will draw on their professional competency and capability to improve clinical service outcomes through research and quality improvement activities.
The NP will provide education and support to other clinicians that facilitate the ongoing development of clinical practice.
The NP will maintain a standard level of education reflective of their competence.
The NP will challenge and broaden their education to meet service outcomes and higher competencies.
