About the role

We are seeking a proactive, self-starter to join our growing global business as FP&A Manager who doesn't just report the numbers but interprets trends and the drivers behind them.

The purpose of FP&A is to provide sound financial insight, planning and strategic analysis that support data driven decision making across the business. By forecasting revenue, tracking key SaaS metrics and analysing financial performance, this FP&A role helps to ensure Halaxy scales efficiently and stays aligned with its growth objectives.

Reporting directly to the Co-Founders & Co-CEOs you will be a strategic partner providing critical insights to drive substantial growth. This role is based out of our Melbourne office. We have 3 offices globally located in Melbourne, Vancouver & Cork.

Responsibilities include:

Analytical & Strategic Thinking

  • Not just reporting numbers but interpreting trends and drivers behind them.
  • Recommends actions based on data.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to connect data to commercial strategy.
  • Leads the end-to-end budgeting, forecasting, and long-range strategic planning processes.
  • Partners with cross-functional teams to provide financial support for strategic initiatives and international expansion.

Data Retrieval & Technical Ability

  • Strong SQL skills (comfortable pulling their own data from databases without depending on engineering).
  • Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent (building automated dashboards and visualisations).
  • Ability to design reporting frameworks and standardise recurring reporting processes.

SaaS Metrics Expertise & analysis

  • Deep knowledge of SaaS financial and operational metrics (MRR, ARR, CAC, LTV, churn, expansion revenue, retention, gross margin, etc.).
  • Can tie reporting and analysis to business outcomes (growth, profitability, efficiency).
  • Experience analysing customer cohorts, pricing impacts, and funnel conversion.
  • Create regular monthly reports to management.

Reporting & Communication

  • Excellent written communication for producing clear reports (monthly, six-monthly, MCRs) that translate data into insights.
  • Ability to present both quantitative and qualitative findings to leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Can simplify complex data into executive-level narratives.

Investment opportunities & Executive communication:

  • Evaluate potential investments, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives, providing rigorous financial modelling and recommendations.
  • Support fundraising, due diligence, and investor reporting, as required.
  • Prepare and present clear, concise financial reports and presentations to the executive team and the Board of Directors.

Skills knowledge & competencies

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
  • CA/CPA/CFA qualified (preferred but not essential).
  • Proven experience as a senior finance leader ideally within a SaaS or high-growth environment.
  • Strong planning, forecasting, budgeting and financial modelling skills, you turn numbers into insight.
  • Hybrid of technical (data/ BI) and commercial (finance / metrics)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous and evolving environment.
  • Deep understanding of SaaS KPIs
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and a commitment to meeting tight deadlines.
  • Advanced Excel, SQL as well as experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and FP&A platforms is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills - confident presenting to senior stakeholders and have the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and adapt to a rapidly changing business environment to prioritise accordingly.
  • A curious mindset with strong initiative.
