The opportunity

Vacenti is seeking a Part time Hairdresser to join our team and work across our facilities at Esida – Mount Gravatt East, Lorocco – Carindale, Sylvan Woods – Birkdale and Marebello – Victoria Point. Reporting to and working closely with the Facility Manager and Clinical Manger, this role will be responsible for the provision of hair care services including cuts & styling for all residents at our facilities in accordance with the residents' individual requirements, whilst maintaining accurate documentation. The hairdresser works as part of the team to ensure Vacenti consistently achieves high-level person-centred care and services.

The Hairdresser assumes responsibility for acting as an advocate for all residents in the home through active reporting of any concerns expressed by the resident or their representative and by proactively reporting any identified changes in the resident's condition.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Deliver a person-centred approach to residents' hair care that incorporates the residents' values needs and culture with reference to the residents' care plan.
• Ensure the residents right to dignity privacy and confidentiality are always maintained.
• Assist residents to meet daily living needs with reference to Haircuts and wellbeing.
• Provide support and maintain a clean and hygienic environment related to your work for the residents.
• Ensure proper and safe disposal of any waste acquired from work.
• Ensure progress notes and documentation is maintained as per Vacenti's policies and procedure.
• Ensure health and safety practices are followed.
• Observe, report, and document any changes in resident's care needs and demeanour and report it to the facility manager as soon as possible.
• Ensure maintenance and cleanliness of all equipment or tools being used.
• Perform reasonable ad-hoc duties as directed.

To be successful in this position you will need:

• Certificate in Hairdressing.
• Experience in hairdressing for the elderly in either a community or aged care setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the provision of person-centred care.
• Initiative and the ability to work independently.
• A positive team-based attitude.
• The ability to work in a busy environment and have good time management skills.
• Very high attention to detail
• A commitment to safe work practises.
• High level spoken and written English literacy skills.
