As a Financial Risk Manager at IAG, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the oversight responsibilities of the Financial Risk & Model Risk team within Group Risk. This position is central to ensuring robust risk management across non-insurance financial domains, including capital, market, credit, and liquidity risks. 

You will provide expert advice and strategic recommendations to senior leaders, helping shape IAG's approach to financial risk governance. Your insights will contribute to maintaining financial resilience and regulatory compliance, while enabling informed decision-making across the business. 

This is a high-impact role suited to professionals with deep technical expertise and strong stakeholder engagement skills, offering the opportunity to influence risk strategy at a group level.

This is a 12-month max-term, full-time role based in Gadigal Country (Darling Park 2, Sydney). 

What You'll Do 

  • Reviewing and challenging key financial risk documents and committee papers, such as ICAAP, Recovery Plan, Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA), 
  • Keeping the EGM, Enterprise Risk informed of any issues / key insights and bringing these to the Risk Leadership team as required 
  • Developing an enhanced oversight process to capture, analyse and report on Financial Risk data. 
  • Producing financial risk updates for the CRO report for GLT Risk and the Board Risk Committee 
  • Stakeholder management – developing and building strong relationships with Group Risk and Finance. 
  • Oversight of Financial Risk Policy compliance 
  • You will also contribute to the preparation of papers for the Risk Executive Leadership Team as required, and from time to time you may also support the team with oversight of Model Risk across IAG.  

What You'll Bring 

  • Solid actuarial, product & pricing, corporate finance or financial role, preferably within a General Insurance environment.  
  • Specialist knowledge in both or at least one financial risk area of capital or investments. 
  • Have the ability to liaise broadly with colleagues from differing parts of the organisation. 
  • An ability to work independently, learn quickly, manage projects and influence outcomes    
  • Tertiary qualification/s in actuarial studies, statistics, mathematics, or related business/finance fields.
