Who we are?

We are a Tourist/Caravan Park in Port Douglas, we have 54 powered and 17 unpowered sites and 10 units. We are a seasonal park, so we are typically fully booked during June to November, 50% booked during the shoulder months being December to May. During the peak season we would have anywhere from 15 to 30 check-ins a day and in the shoulder months about 2 to 15 per day. We don't employ gardeners, amenities, or cabin cleaners for the bulk of the year, That's the responsibility of the Managers & Team members making this very hands-on role. We are a very quiet park with a range of guests from retired grey nomads to international and Aussie travellers. We don't have activity centres for kids in the park, although they are most welcome to splash around in the pool. Many customers come to Port Douglas to get into a warmer climate and to visit tourist attractions. As part of our office, we have a tour desk selling a variety of tours all around the Port Douglas area.

Where we are?

Tropic Breeze Tourist Park is a 2-acre park in Port Douglas FNQ. Port Douglas is about 70km from the closest major town being Cairns. The average temperature in Port Douglas ranges between about 24 degrees to highs of around 32 degrees in the wet and humid season from November through to March. We are a 2 min walk from the main street and a 2-minute walk to the stunning and famous 4-mile beach.  With a population of 5500 people, it's a small town but the population during the busy months can double with about 420,000 visitors each year, mainly in the busy peak season. Port Douglas has great weather, a great beach and many tour operators that take visitors out to the great barrier reef or the Daintree amongst other tourism activities.

What does the role entail?

This role  is best suited to 2 people or a couple, working 3 days per week (Tuesday - Thursday) in the park grounds and office, also taking the after hours mobile on rostered days on. You will be doing around 10 hours per day during the busier months, which may decrease to 8 hours per day during the quieter months.

Office role:

• Assist in day-to-day operations of the property
• Front office operations including guest check in/out, reservations and account reconciliation
• Provide an exceptional guest experience, responding promptly to guest enquiries
• Cabin cleaning

Grounds person:

• Cleaning of amenities, camp kitchen and cabins
• Daily routine checks sites upon guest departure
• General maintenance of buildings/infrastructure
• Maintaining grounds and caravan sites
• Customer service/assisting guests to their sites.
• Assisting with projects in the off season
• Basic computer skills are required and willingness to learn the booking system

Who Would you work with and report to?

The park has full time managers who work 4 days a week being Friday - Monday. The park owners also assist in the day to day running of the park.

What are we Looking for?

We are looking for a couple who are fit, honest and computer savvy. Ideally, we are looking for a couple who have experience in the industry and who understand day to day running of a caravan park.

Our booking system is Newbook, so any experience using Newbook or similar will be highly regarded.

If you're looking for a retirement role or can't work in a busy environment and can't handle the heat and humidity this role is NOT for you.

What we offer as a remuneration package / Contract.

You would normally do around 24 hours per week per person in the low season, this will become 30 hours during the peak season.

There is a site for a caravan or motorhome available at the park if required.

The part time role is paid at an hourly rate.

There may also be opportunity for additional days work at our sister park 700 metres away during the peak season.
