WHAT YOU'LL DO

As an Apprentice you'll be supported by experienced tradespeople who will guide your learning and development throughout your journey.  You'll gain hands-on experience and contribute to a wide range of tasks, including:

  • Safe and correct use of hand and power tools.
  • Installation and maintenance of pole mounted plant (e.g. transformers, HV switches).
  • Installation and maintenance of overhead single-phase and three-phase services
  • Climbing poles and operating Elevated Work Platforms (EWPs).
  • Dressing poles and cross arms, including insulators and pole steps.
  • Reading and interpreting electrical diagrams and drawings.
  • Fault find on low and high voltage networks.
  • Performing electrical testing, including polarity testing
  • General labouring tasks such as moving cable drums, unloading hardware, and trench digging.

We ensure all required regulatory training is completed in a timely manner, and we'll coordinate your TAFE blocks as part of your apprenticeship.  Additional training and authorisations – whether in-house or external – will also be provided to support your development and broaden your skill set.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

You'll be energetic, physically fit and driven to learn, with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.  You'll show initiative, resilience, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team while taking direction form experienced tradespeople.

As Omexom is a contracting company, the location and timing of work will vary depending on client requirements.  You'll need to be flexible and available to work across weekends, days, nights, and public holidays as needed.

If you're committed to safety, have strong communication skills, and can manage your time effectively, this could be the apprenticeship for you

To be successful, you will:

  • Have completed Year 12 or equivalent.
  • Have achieved a minimum High Achievement in General Maths (or equivalent).
  • Have achieved a minimum Sound Achievement in General English (or equivalent).
  • Hold a Class C Manual Drivers Licence (QLD).
  • Hold a Construction Industry White Card.
  • Hold or be working towards a current HR or MR license (highly regarded).
  • Have previous work experience in the industry, or hold relevant qualifications such as:

  • Certificate II in Electrotechnology

  • Working at Heights
  • High-Risk Work Licence
  • Dogging, Rigging, EWP, Forklift
